Ji is a corporate transactional lawyer with extensive experience representing financial sponsors, investor groups and companies in a variety of transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, divestures, joint ventures, venture capital investments and securities offerings. He has advised clients in diverse industries, including cannabis, financial services, manufacturing, real estate, media, education, technology, software, e-commerce, food and beverage, packaging, biotech, pharmaceutical, energy, shipping and aerospace. He regularly represents family offices, private equity funds, hedge funds, venture capital funds and individual investors in connection with investments in the cannabis industry.  His cannabis practice is nationally recognized by Chambers and Partners.

Ji attended Rutgers University where he received his B.S. in Accounting in 1998 and was a member of the Beta Alpha Psi Honor Fraternity. He attended Fordham University School of Law where he received his J.D. in 2004 and served as a Notes & Articles Editor of the Fordham Environmental Law Journal.

Following his graduation from law school, Ji spent six years as a corporate associate in the New York office of Vinson & Elkins LLP and four years as an M&A associate in the New York office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. Prior to joining Berkowitz, Trager & Trager in 2016, he was a partner at Sadis & Goldberg LLP in New York. In 2013, he received a Lawyers Alliance for New York Cornerstone Award for his efforts in pro bono services. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. Prior to practicing law, he was a tax manager at Deloitte LLP.

Ji has been acting as pro bono counsel to the Association for Autism and Neurodiversity since 2019 and has served on its board of directors from July 2020 through June 2023.

  • Representation of a consortium of lenders in lending over $100 million to a cannabis company.
  • Representation of various family offices, private equity funds, hedge funds, venture capital funds and individual investors in investments in excess of $100 million in the cannabis industry in various opportunities, including sponsoring a REIT, investments in REITs, sale-leaseback of dispensaries, and investments in MSOs (multi-state operators), brands, cultivation facilities and other cannabis companies in the United States, Canada and Europe.
  • Representation of an infrastructure company in a $500 million joint venture with a real estate investment company.
  • Representation of a mutual fund manager in the sale for over $230 million.
  • U.S. counsel to an Israeli artificial intelligence recruiting company in the sale to a NASDAQ-listed company for $150 million.
  • Representation of a national auto parts chain in the acquisitions of multiple divisions in excess of $100 million.
  • Representation of an executive recruiting firm in the acquisitions of multiple divisions (domestic and international) in excess of $60 million.
