Matthew Tippett is a tax lawyer and business advisor who treats his clients’ needs and budgets as if they were his own. Matt provides sophisticated commercial advice on a wide range of transactions, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, debt and equity financings, restructurings and debt workouts, and the formation of private investment funds. He also regularly advises founders on the formation of their businesses, including choice of entity and “qualified small business stock” considerations.

Matt received his J.D. (cum laude) from Washington University in St. Louis and his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University, where he was a Nina W. Werblow Tax Scholar. Matt received his B.S. in Finance from Colorado State University.

Prior to joining Berkowitz, Trager & Trager, Matt was a tax associate in the New York offices of Paul Hastings LLP, Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, and Goodwin Procter LLP.
